Mexico Day for Layne

I was in Mexico last Wednesday for the whole day.
We made salsa and guacamole.
We made Lucha Libre wrestling masks and I made a blue and orange mask.
Did you know that the greatest Lucha Libre wrestler was EL Santo the man in the silver mask.

Theo's Trip to Russia

Last Wednesday I went on a trip to Russia. I ate a pancake but in Russia they are called blini and they were good. There is a certain way to eat them you have to fold it into a triangle and eat it. For Art we made something called a Fabergé egg. The Russians gave one of these eggs to Alexander III and the Royal family.  We had a Russia quiz and I got 16/18. The capital of Russia is Moscow and the colours of the flag are white, blue and red. Here is a picture of the blini:

Finn's Day in Russia

Last Wednesday I spent the day in Russia and Miss Lanham showed us all of the things Russians do and eat.

On Wednesday we made blini which is a Russian pancake that they eat when it is about to turn into summer🔅

I also learnt that Russian coats are not made of bear fur, they are actually made out of an European hamster🐹

I also learnt that Jewelled eggs are made for every member of the Russian Royal family.

Keara's Day in Mexico

Last Wednesday we were with Mr Baker and we spent the day in Mexico.  It was our first ever big in day in Mexico.  As soon as we had got to Mexico we did some research on Mexico.  That was fun.  Then we cooked some of the popular stuff that would have been cooked in Mexico. We had Guacamole, salsa and Jalapeños.  Some of us tried some hot chillies. Trust me you wouldn't want to try them!  After we had finished cooking we did some art about Lucha Libre. We coloured in some masks and then that was our day.

Ryan's Day in Mexico

Last Wednesday Room 7 spent the day in Mexico.  Some of the things we did in Mexico were making Pico de Gallo, salsa and guacamole. Some of the things we tried are Hot chillis, jalapenos, pico de Gallo and salsa with corn chips. Then in the third block we did some research on the Mexican flag, lucha libre and what Mexicans wear and why they wear them.

Felicity's Cultural Celebrations Day

On cultural celebrations day I went to Mexico. We made Pico de gallo and guacamole. The Pico de gallo was yum and the guacamole was okay.
I tried a jalapeño and a chilli. The jalapeño was HOT! The chilli was not really a chilli because it was nowhere near as hot. The art me and my class made was Day of the Dead art and Lucha Libre mask. I found out that Mexico speaks four languages called Spanish, Nahuatl, Yucatec maya and Mixtec. I also did a recipe on snapguide.

Taine's Epro8 Comment

What was the Epro8 Challenge?  It was a competition where you made stuff from aluminium bars, switches, motors, scales, and things to join them all up.  It was against other Horowhenua schools.

What did you enjoy most about the experience?  I liked making different things with the different sized poles and stuff.  I also liked learning about how to build the things that we made.

Enya's Epro8 comment

What was the Epro8 Challenge?  It was a challenge where we had to construct and build stuff over a set amount of time.  The first competition was in Levin and then the finals were in Palmerston North.

What did you enjoy most about the experience?  I enjoyed building the different structures and using motors and wires, and we worked together on most challenges.

Epro8 Challenge - Josh

What was the Epro8 Challenge?  The Epro8 Challenge was a competition among local schools where you had to complete different building challenges. We had 2.5 hours and for each task you got a certain amount of points.  In the first challenge we got second equal which qualified us for the semi-final.  We then got second equal again and went to the finals in Palmerston North.  In the finals we didn't win but we tried our best.

What did you enjoy most about the experience?  I liked getting to meet other students and getting to build different things.  It was cool to use different piece of equipment like time delays and on/off switches and power
boards.

EPro8 Taylor

What was the Epro8 Challenge?  It's a challenge about engineering and problem solving.  We had to build all different things out of aluminium pieces and things that had been 3D printed.

What did you enjoy most about the experience?  Each time we went there were different tasks that we had to complete.  The activities changed each time we went and each one was unique.
